Project Lique SchootEspecially for the exhibition "O Fortuna!", Lique Schoot made each of five successive days a photograph of herself within the museum. For this project she was inspired by the five personages that occur in the 13th century manuscript of the Carmina Burana, by way of the following Self-Portraits:
1 Self-portrait 10 09 11 "Regno" (I reign)
2 Self-portrait 10 09 12 "Regnavi" (I reigned)
3 Self-portrait 10 09 13 "Fortuna" (Fortuna, Empress of the World)
4 Self-portrait 10 09 14 "Sum sine regno" (I am without sovereignty)
5 Self-portrait 10 09 15 "Regnabo" (I shall reign)
After making the photographs, the location of each exposure was marked with a silhouette: The Site-Specific Self-Portraits. Subsequently, the photographs were developed and printed to serve as a basis for the paintings that were later added to the exhibition.
The for "O Fortuna!" made Site-Specific Self-Portraits formed an interplay action with Lique Schoot's daily made photographs from her Visual Diaries, the five personifications from the Carmina Burana manuscript and the selected locations in the museum. Thus, these locations interlink with the personifications in the manuscript of the Carmina Burana.
